Presumably by David Bryce. Dated 1868. Picturesque
barge-boarded single storey lodge; fairly sympathetic
recessed 3-bay addition to E early 20th century. Cast-iron
railed quadrants; gates now removed.
LODGE: coursed squared red rubble with polished dressings
(addition faced in bull-faced ashlar). Asymmetrical, with
advanced gables; N elevation (to driveway) has projecting
gabled inner porch with bolection-moulded doorway; canted
ground floor window in gabled left bay corbelled to square
with main roof carried over; tripartite in W gable. Sash
windows with lying-pane glazing; projecting eaves,
decorative barge-boards with spike finials; corniced axial
stacks; slate roofs.
QUADRANTS: curved long low quadrants, spiked barley-sugar
railings on red ashlar coping, squat chamfered square
terminal piers.
David Bryce designed additions to Halleaths in 1866; this
lodge compares with Bryce's lodges at Castlemilk.
