Description

Late 18th/early 19th century walled garden with 2-storey
gardener's house (? formerly sheds/boiler room/cottages)
incorporated at W end of N wall. All rubble-built with ashlar
dressings.
WALLED GARDEN: High walls enclosing large quadrangular area;
long angle "buttress" walls at angles; wide slapping in S
wall; walls swept upwards at N. Derelict glasshouse range
full length of gardener's house.
HOUSE: Rectangular plan, with end walls slightly advanced
from main (N) elevation (house may be later infill); W wall
is higher and causes roof to slope downwards towards E. N
elevation: openings staggered up slope, but symmetrically
arranged; 2 inner and 2 outer doors (2 blocked) and 2 windows
at ground, 3 1st floor windows, the outer ones enlarged in
late 19th century. Stacks rise above garden wall. Piended
slate roof.
SEMI-DOMED ALCOVE: To S of walled garden, built of red ashlar
and with some rustic stonework nearby.

excluded from listing.
