Single storey cottage probably of 18th century origin now
raised and incorporated into earlier 19th century 2-storey
farmhouse; some reused jambs of 16th/17th century style to
1st floor windows.
Wide 3-bay painted rubble front. Off-centre 20th-century
gabled brick porch. 3 evenly spaced 4-pane sash and case
windows to both floors, additional small window to ground
left. Upper windows with some re-used dressings; roll-moulded
cills or checked back jambs.
Harled rear elevation with 4-pane sash and case windows.
Slate roof, flat skews, sandstone ridge. Coped end stacks
with mainly octagonal cans.
According to local tradition there was a towerhouse near the
site from which the cut stones were taken to build Barskeoch
Mains. The site of Old Barskeoch Castle is not recorded in
the RCAHMS inventories.
