Design based upon model "Gothic Cottage" illustrated in John Papworth's RURAL RESIDENCES of 1818; built circa 1820-30 plainer in detail than illustration.
3-storey square tower with angle buttresses single-storey and attic wing to N. Rubble walling with sandstone margins; tower partially harled. Single light windows, mostly with 4-pane sash and case, some 6-pane casements. 2nd floor with recessed cross to 3 elevations.
Sandstone stepped angled buttresses rise to decorated pinnacles. Small coped brick stacks not original. Pyramidal slate roof to tower, pitch roof to wing.
Listed in conjunction with ornamental walling opposite cottage. Cottage said to have been used as hostel/school for 10 boys during 19th-century. B Group with Brooklands House and ornamental walling.
