Mid 19th century, modified circa 1880 in style of adjacent East Cottage, Waterside. Single storey and attic, 3-bay cottage beside River Deveron. Rubble, with Turriff sandstone dressings. Door to S, windows flanking at ground. Single windows to centre at rear, 2 later, gabled wooden dormers to attic. Casement windows with lying-pane glazing. Renewed purple slates, bracketed eaves to gables, clay ridge tiles, coped stacks.
In poor condition, 1993. Probably used as a fishing bothy, with its neighbour East Cottage (listed separately). Buildings appear on the above map at Waterside; possibly associated with the laundry for Carnousie House, which was sited to the NE (see OS Map, Banffshire, 1959).
