Originally 1788, 2-storey 3-window absorbed into Greek
revival mansion Archibald Simpson 1826. Burnt 1939. main
house roofless; office wing intact Main block approx 45' x
60', 2-storey, W. front 3-window with single storey
tetrastyle unfluted doric portico with pediment. S.front
3-window bow, 1-window either side. E. front 3-window.
Harled; cornice and blocking course. Plan has been of
interest with oval staircase. Lower 2-storey broad-eaved
office buildings remain at N. partly altered later.
Built by Chambers a retired planter from southern states of
U.S.A who had changed his name from the old family name
of Chalmers.
The home farm has remains of Simpson work but is somewhat
altered, though retaining symmetrical 1/2 storey
dovecot feature.
