Description

A & W Reid, Elgin, 1854. 2-storey and attic, S facing
symmetrical 3-storey house. Rubble, tooled rubble dressings.
Centre door masked by later glazed porch; flanking
tripartites with wooden mullions. 2 later piended dormers in
outer bays. Centre ground and 1st floor windows in E and W
gables; lying-pane glazing throughout, including 2-window
rear kitchen wing; 12-pane to dormers. Coped end stacks;
graded Banffshire slate roof.
WALLED GARDEN: rubble walled garden extends to W of house.
FORMER STEADING: long single storey and loft, rubble built
steading now accommodating garages and store in ground floor
and 1st floor accommodation. Unaltered E elevation to road;
graded Banffshire slate roof.

Statement of Interest

Free Church sited to rear of manse; demolished circa 1940.

Unusual survival of original glazing throughout.

Steading converted to present use in 1975.
