Peter McGregor Chalmers, c.1920. Prominently sited, pink sand stone ashlar monolith memorial with shouldered plinth and stepped base. Moulded garland framing commemorative bronze plaque with further bronze plaque addition below.
The West Linton War Memorial is a simple tapering sandstone ashlar monolith in the style of War Graves Commission work by J J Burnett and R S Lorimer. It displays a moulded garland framing a bronze plaque dedicated by the people of West Linton parish in proud and grateful memory of the men of the parish who fell in the Great War 1914-18. A second plaque below is dedicated to the men who fell in the Second World War 1939-45. The memorial is prominently sited in front of St Andrew's Parish Church (see separate listing).
Peter McGregor Chalmers (1859-1922) is best known for his almost exclusively ecclesiastical earlier work, mostly in a distinctive Romanesque manner.
