Description

L-plan block, 5-storey and basement of fire-proof jack-arch construction.

Simple classic elevations, rubble with ashlar ground floor

arched and channelled: 1830-1: unfinished.

Statement of Interest

Deanston works was originally powered by 4 waterwheels 36'6"

dia. & 10'10" wide (Fairbairn of Manchester 1830). Replaced

1949 by Gilkes turbines; the huge c.i. and w.i. conduit which

fed them, and the lades and tail-races still survive. Upgraded on 11-Dec-1991 from B to A.
