Description

Entrance gate piers and gates; circa 1840, pair square
rusticated ashlar piers with corniced caps and ball finials
linked by low coped retaining wall to similar end piers. Pair
spearhead cast-iron carriage gates.
Gate lodge; mid 19th century, simple single-storey S facing
3-bay cottage with single-bay addition slightly set back
at west gable. Harled with painted tooled ashlar margins.
Centre door with double-leaf plank door; 4-pane glazing;
coped end stacks; slate roof with projecting eaves. Policy
walls; mid 19th century coped retaining walls with various
entrances including that serving Dochfour nursery garden at
Kirkton with pair square tooled rubble piers with ashlar caps
and ball finials linked to similar end piers by stepped
quadrants. Pair wrought-iron carriage gates.
