Later 19th century, 2-storey bank and manager's house,
symmetrical east (Main Street) and south facing facades. All
coursed rubble with contrasting tooled sandstone dressings.
East elevation; wide 3-bay frontage with recessed centre bay
rising into central pyramidal tower rising 1 storey above
wallhead, with finialled and gabled dormer window and terminal decorative cast-iron cresting. Corniced centre door; flanking
bays have three close set round-headed, keystoned windows,
and paired flat-headed windows in 1st floor.
South facade; 3-bay frontage with centre round-headed,
keystoned door recessed in corniced slightly advanced porch
with small side lights. Paired round-headed, keystoned
windows in outer bays, with similar flat-headed windows in
outer bays of 1st floor; slightly set back 2-storey, single
bay wing to left (west). All ground floor windows linked at
impost by string course. 2-pane glazing; band course;
blocked eaves cornice; corniced stacks, piended slate
roof.
Interior; banking hall with ornate plaster ceiling cornice;
original panelled counter with panelled side screens and
sloping counter top. Low coped garden wall with pair square
ashlar gate piers with pyramidal caps; cast-iron spearhead
railing and matching pedestrian gate. Similar gate piers
flank north entrance to rear of bank.
