Dated 1745 and 1756. 2-storey, 3-bay house. Harled rubble on
heavy boulder footings. Centre door in 3-bay north elevation;
plain chamfered doorway masked by low gabled and crowstepped
porch dated 1756. Symmetrical south elevation with ground and
1st floor windows in outer bays, and centre window between
ground and 1st floor lighting staircase half landing;
small window above also lighting stairwell. Single small
attic windows in each gable; plain chamfered window margins;
crowsteps; cavetto skewputts; corniced end stacks; slate
roof.
Interior: original panelled 1st floor rooms in east and west,
with slightly different shaped panel motif in each room.
Panelling includes former box bed doors in parlour (east).
Moulded lugged architraves to doors; 6-panel doors; moulded
lugged chimney-pieces, in parlour dated 1745. Original shaped
flat wooden balusters to scale and plat wooden staircase
sited in centre south front, which rises to attic.
House unlived in. Parlour chimney-piece has marriage stone;
17 WMK I MK, 45 with heart in centre. Porch lintel bears
inscription:- 17 WMK L MK 56. The figures 17 damaged by
harling. Panelling, doors, and doorpieces similar to that
in drawing room at Flowerdale House (1738) also Gairloch,
also Mackenzie House
