Circa 1860, enlarged circa 1890, 1909 rambling single storey
building, coursed rubble with tooled dressings. Square
entrance bay with pyramidal roof, barge-boarded dormers to
three faces and small round wooden cupola. Flanking halls
with tripartite windows and further entrance with glazed
door and flanking lights. Oval bulls' eye windows in gables;
shallow slate roof extending over arcaded verandah at NE
angle.
Interior; tile lined halls within.
Present central car park is site of former earlier principal
pump room. This pump room was formerly known as the Upper
Pump Room.
