J J Stevenson architect, 1883, incorporating 1834 church.
Gothic; T-plan, 2-stage square tower at north gable; 2 low
bays to south with gabled porch at east. Rubble-built, with
ashlar dressings. Tower has geometric-traceried and pointed
north (chancel) window, pointed and louvred belfry opening
with simple Y-tracery to each face above; crenellated
parapet with spouts enclosing broached slated and
ship-finialed spire.
East elevation: geometric-traceried transept window, 3 bays to
body of church each with hood-moulded and traceried pointed
window. Shaped skews, corbelled gablet (?cut-down stack or
belfry) above south gable. Slated roofs. Interior: several 20th
century leaded glass windows; artists include Morris; Heaton,
Butler and Bayne; Powell; Dearle; Rev Arthur Allen; Gordon and
Alfred Webster. Pulpit by Bennet; 1915 Communion table and
lectern both designed and carved by Rev Arthur Allen.
Ecclesiastical Building in use as such.
Spire finial is a model of the yacht 'Latifa' dedicated 1951
as a memorial to Wm. Fyfe of Fairlie, naval architect.
The pulpit was exhibited at the 1888 Empire exhibition.
