John Rhind, Inverness, dated 1880. Asymmetrical building with
2-storey gabled single bay house at west and high single
storey (former hospital) wing projecting at east with large
mullioned window in east gable, flanking projecting gabled
porch with round-headed entrance. All grey rubble with tooled
red sandstone dressings. Datestone and monogram in porch
gablet; side elevation of porch lit by small tripartite;
bipartites in ground and 1st floor of dwelling to west.
Mainly 2-pane glazing; coped ridge stack; slate roof.
Monogram of Ellice family, formerly of Invergarry House (now Glengarry Hotel). Tigh-Mhonaidh was formerly the hospital, a very unusual amenity in a Highland village built for the village by Mr & Mrs E. Ellice.
