Dated J P 1862, re-roofed Gillespie of St Andrews 1892 after
fire damage farmhouse reconstructed 1914 with further
addition later. Steading, rectangular plan with double
internal court. Snecked rubble with margined rock-faced
dressings. South elevation has 2 wide segmentally arched
doors with plain dressings, 2 flanking rock-faced doors,
advanced double-gable section to left with wide segmentally
arched doors, farmhouse to right single-storey and
attic/2-storey, L-plan front with ground floor bipartites,
chimney gablet centre east flank, 8-lying pane glazing; very
unusual treatment of 5 bay cartshed, north range, south
elevation: chamfered segmental arches with rock-faced
voussoirs on cast-iron columns, loft windows above. Range
dividing courts has broad segmentally arched recesses in
walls for feeding troughs and other unusual features. Stump
of columnar engine house chimney with dentiled pedestal and
moulded base survives at north west corner.
Listed Category B for very unusual detailing of cartsheds and
feeding troughs.
