Late 18th to early 19th century. Cottage and ancillary buildings. Rubble with harl, pantiles with part slate eaves easing course to later addition and ashlar-coped skews.
PRINCIPAL RANGE:
N ELEVATION: single storey recessed centre with irregular advanced gabled end bays. Gable to left with stone forestair to hayloft(?), slightly lower range with door and wallhead stack, gable to outer right with blocked opening at forestair height.
S ELEVATION: gable to right with large opening and door to left in screen wall to catslide-roofed projection, recessed later bay to left with paired sliding timber door.
E ELEVATION: separate byre with door to left and blocked opening to right.
COTTAGE: small single storey farm worker's cottage (uninhabited) to SE of ancillaries, part pantiled, part slated. Some small-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows retained. Later wall and coped ashlar gatepiers link cottage to ancillaries.
GATEPIERS: tall ashlar piers adjoining coped rubble wall of ancillary.
The ancillary buildings were originally used as stable and carriage house for Newbigging House. Immediately W of this range is a brick stack which marks the site of Newbigging limestone quarry which was owned by the Carron Company.
