1846-50. Station and station master's house. Single storey, squared and snecked rubble with ashlar dressings, raised margins, base course. Station entered from E, door in advanced gabled bay with 2 windows flanking at right, 1 window to left. Station master's house on N side, door flanked by 2 windows to left, advanced gabled bay with window to right. Platform to S; timber waiting room adjoining advanced bay at right with decorative boarding.
Sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing pattern and iron security bars.
Grey slates to low-pitched roof, bracketted eaves. Decorative cans to ridge stack.
2 wall-mounted drinking fountains.
South platform waiting room: timber with decorative boarding, large windows with 9 slim mullions. Low single pitch roof with bracketted eaves.
Line opened 22 June 1846, station temporary initially; permanent buildings probably completed between 1845 and 1850. Station lodge; Spylaw Cottage (listed separately).
