James Thomson of Leith, 1784-85. Classical with gothic
windows, coursed rubble, north flank 5 bays with 3-bay
pedimented projection containing gallery stair surmounted by
square clock stage and octagonal belfry stage with stone
spire; Y-traceried windows with small-paned glazing, 4-window
S elevation, those flanking pulpit enlarged by D Cousin,
1848; piended roof. Interior recast by David Bryce 1835,
horse shoe galleried with pulpit on S side; coach niche set
in Corinthian columns. Coved ceiling. Built on site mediaeval
church, chancel restored as session house, 1953.
