house. Plain. 2 storeyed. 5 bays wide with pedimented
porch. Harled. Slated roof. 1 storey end wings (much
altered). Rear additions around a yard by John Adam and
his son William.
Historically interesting for association with Adam family
of architects. William (d. 1748) bought lands of Blair
Crambeth from Colvilles of Cleish 1731. Factor's house
was occasionally occupied by William and more frequently
by John, 2nd laird (d. 1792) Lord Chief Commissioner
Adam (d. 1839) 3rd Laird, notable lawyer and politician,
made it his residence and gave estate the name of
Blair Adam.
