Description

Oldest part built 1733 by William Adam to be his factor's
house. Plain. 2 storeyed. 5 bays wide with pedimented
porch. Harled. Slated roof. 1 storey end wings (much
altered). Rear additions around a yard by John Adam and
his son William.

Statement of Interest

Historically interesting for association with Adam family

of architects. William (d. 1748) bought lands of Blair

Crambeth from Colvilles of Cleish 1731. Factor's house

was occasionally occupied by William and more frequently

by John, 2nd laird (d. 1792) Lord Chief Commissioner

Adam (d. 1839) 3rd Laird, notable lawyer and politician,

made it his residence and gave estate the name of

Blair Adam.
