Circa 1780 with later alterations and additions. Tall 3-storey, 3-bay symmetrical plain classical rectangular-plan former Dower house with raised pedimented bay to centre. Stugged cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. Base course; cill course at 1st floor; eaves course and cornice. Raised margins to windows; strip pilasters to central bay; raised strip quoins.
NE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: painted, architraved and corniced doorpiece at ground in bay to centre; replacement 2-leaf timber panelled door with rectangular fanlight; window at each floor above. Window at each floor in each bay flanking.

SE (SIDE) ELEVATION: 2-bay wall. Window at ground in bay to left. Window at each floor in each bay above.
NW (SIDE) ELEVATION: single storey piended addition with window to NW and replacement timber door to NE; flanking small window to right; window at each floor above. 2-storey pitched addition in bay to left; window at 1st floor; circular motif to gablehead; window at 2nd floor above.
12-pane timber sash and case windows; modern fixed stair windows dormer windows. Grey slate piended roof; slate to additions; multi-flue ashlar coped ridge stacks; cast-iron rainwater goods with some uPVC replacements.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1997.
GATEPIERS: pair of droved cream sandstone piers with stop chamfered angles, cavetto moulded cornice and stepped pyramidal cap sited to W of house. Low stugged sandstone ashlar wall section with ridged cope to similar pier to right hand side.
It would seem probable, given that the window margins, strip pilasters and quoins are slightly raised, that Millburn House was at one stage harled. Originally Millburn House served as the Dower House to Dalserf House across the glen to the NE, now demolished.
