Statement of Interest

The village of Pathhead grew considerably during the later part of the 18th century, almost doubling in size. This was due to advanced farming techniques and the introduction of industry (mines, quarries and limekilns) to the area. Pathhead grew again at the beginning of the 20th century, with the introduction of Local Authority Housing to its south side, whilst the main street remained relatively unchanged. This run of buildings formed shop/residential premises, although the original ground floor front elevation has been lost.
