17th century rectangular-plan 2-storey house more than
doubled in size in 18th century by full-height full-width
addition to north; long 2-storey range to south (now byre
and store) added late 18th/early 19th century. House re-
modelled mid/later 19th century with irregularly-placed
openings; all raised 3/4 masonry courses, original openings
mostly blocked and existing enlarged windows inserted.
Rubble-built with ashlar dressings; original house has
boulder base and roll-moulded openings; 19th century
dressings stugged; modern central porch to west and low
addition to north gable both harled; all painted, and with
slate roofs. ORIGINAL HOUSE: main door near centre on east
wall, single window above; central west-facing 1st floor
window with raised lintel now blocked and flanked by inserted
windows; interior with 2 vaulted chambers at ground (that to
north the larger) each entered from main door, and lit at
west. 18TH CENTURY ADDITION has single original ground floor
window to east, roofs swept over 1st floor windows in late
19th century. Saw-toothed skews; 3 corniced end stacks.
SOUTH RANGE also with some blocked openings, ventilators
inserted at byre; roof swept at west over lean-to.
Unfortunate temporary lean-to against west wall of original
house. Remainder of steading not included in listing.
