Dated 1836. Upright slab monument set on hill slope; corniced
and pedimented, with urn finial, inscribed panel on south
face. Painted ashlar. Enclosed by simple iron railings on
rubble-built base.
Inscribed "Sacred to the memory of Daniel MacMichael who
suffered martyrdom here by Sir James Dalziel, AD 1685".
Erected while Dalveen farm was being built. MacMichael is
buried at Durisdeer; his sword is held in Greyfriars' Church,
Edinburgh.
