Description

Dated 1825 on 2 diagonally opposite parapet terminals.
Roadbridge over River Nith. 2 wide segmenal arches (1 flood
relief). All grey ashlar, stugged, with polished dressings;
bullfaced below springing line; central pier has droved
ashlar shallow, wide pilaster strip over cutwater either
side: band course below coped parapets; parapets (also
droved) curved outwards at approaches.

Statement of Interest

The Commissioner of Supply agreed to provide this bridge on

condition that the Duke of Buccleuch would take over

responsibility from the county for the bridge at Drumlanrig.
