Description

Fragmentary ruins of 16th century church, much restored 1939
and the burial place of the Gordons of Lochinvar.
The present structure is of square plan, part of larger
church. The S gable is complete to wall-head with crowsteps;
most of these date from 1939 restoration. The walling is of
rubble with squared quoins and chamfered or roll-moulded
margins.
Large roll-moulded window to S-gable with iron grille (1939).
Above in roll-moulded panel a marriage escutcheon initials IG
MC for James Gordon and Margaret Crichton, the date is now
illegible but said to be 1576.
