Quadrangular burial enclosure at head of steep slope above E
bank of River Sark. Bounded on 3 sides by rubble-built walls
with flat ashlar coping (gate at N), iron fence above bank.
Site of Morton church; 17th-19th carved headstones, many with
good classical ornament, and burial place of Kinmont Willie
(Willie Armstrong) celebrated border reiver.
Morton Parish was disjoined in 1621 and part annexed by
Canonbie.
