Description

Late 18th/early 19th century 2-storey 3-bay house on raised

basement; alterations and substantial additions early and

added early in 20th century; rendered large central rear (N)

wing circa 1950; low rear court. Symmetrical S elevation:

original house rubble-built with ashlar margins, steps

(modern railings) to central door with fanlight and side

lights, 4-columned Roman Doric shallow portico; gabled

dormers; 2-bay wings snecked stugged and squared red rubble

with ashlar margins and rusticated quoins; ground floor

windows pedimented; band course at ground floor level;

eaves/lintel band; blocked cornice; corniced stacks; slate

roof, piended, set forward and swept-eaved over wings.

Forestair on E flank leading to columned porch. N elevation

much altered with wing abutting advanced and pedimented

inner bay; tall Venetian window to right. Roofed court (at

NE) has rusticated quoins and ball finial; depressed arch and key-blocked oculus facing W.

Interior: some good original ceiling and cornice plasterwork;

timber and marble chimney pieces.
