Late 18th century. 2-storey, 3-bay farmhouse with later 19th
century wing to rear. To SW of farmhouse, late 18th/early
19th century 2-storey L-shaped former mill building.
FARMHOUSE: painted rubble with boulder basecourse, harled W
elevation. Original house probably L-plan with 3-bay main S
elevation and 2-bay NW wing (now with widened openings).
Later in the 19th century a rubble 2-storey wing was added to
about the NW wing, granite margins and quoins.
S elevation, central mid 19th century, painted rubble, gabled
porch with S facing window. All other windows retain their
original dimensions but with late 19th century sash and case
plate glass glazing. Sandstone skews and ridge, end coped
stacks with thackstanes, slate roofs.
OLD MILL: L-plan, 2-storey, painted rubble building with
lean-to wheelhouse at E wall, boulder basecourse.
Ground-level built-up at S to allow access to 1st floor. S
gable-roofed rectangular section with many triangular vents
and hoist door access to loft at S. N piend-roofed jamb
(possibly of later build) once contained threshing mill
machinery (now gutted) and may have been raised circa 3ft to
present height. The presence of so many vents in a mill
building is unusual.
