Early 19th century. 2-storey 3-bay farmhouse; to E 2 ranges
of single storey and attic rubble byres placed at right
angles to form 2 sides of square courtyard.
FARMHOUSE: painted rubble with squared quoins and raised
rendered margins. Symmetrical 3-bay frontage with single
light windows, sash and case with 12-pane glazing pattern.
Rear elevation similarly detailed with some plate glass
sashes; lean-to addition to ground floor. Slate roofs,
corniced axial stacks, flat skews, thackstanes.
STEADINGS: built at right angles, all rubble built. W range
built on steeply sloping site; single storey with 3 stable
doors to courtyard; that to left set within much larger
bricked-up opening. To right lower single storey stable range.
S range; large 2-storey barn with lower byre to E. Latter
much altered to courtyard elevation. All with good graded
slate roofs and sandstone ridges.
The outward appearance of the steadings is unaltered, but the
courtyard elevation has been considerably altered, farmhouse
shown on 1854 OS map.
