Mid 18th century. Single span segmental-arched hump-back bridge over the Water of Tanar. Granite rubble with rubble coping. Rubble arch-ring; splayed, stepped down wing walls.
McConnochie suggests that the Bridge of Tanar is a military bridge constructed by General Wade. Fraser, confirms that the bridge is a military one, akin to other bridges in Glengairn, Corgarff and the Lecht, but points out that there is no evidence to suggest that General Wade constructed bridges in Aberdeenshire.
