Marshall & Ballantyne construction engineers, dated 1864. 3-arch bridge over the River Teviot with tall rounded cutwaters rising as tapered buttresses to parapet. Splayed wing walls, terminating in piers with piended capstones; parapet stepped inwards over arches. Squared snecked pink grey and yellow mixed sandstone and whinstone. Bull-faced voussoirs; ashlar-coped parapet.
This is a fine bridge which is particularly prominent from the N and NE approaches to Denholm on the B6405 and is an important feature in the landscape. The tall cutwaters are striking and give the bridge a strong vertical emphasis which balances its long length. The stone for the bridge came from Denholmhill Quarry.
