Late 18th century. Symmetrical SE facing 2-storey and
attic, 3-bay house with slightly advanced single storey
wings projecting at rear to form U-plan court. Pinned
random rubble, tooled granite ashlar margins and dressings,
harled flanks and rear.
Shallow advanced centre bay; centre door with radial
fanlight masked by wide single storey later 19th century
porch (rubble with contrasting tooled sandstone dressings).
Centre 1st floor simple Venetian window with blind side
lights; blocking course with 3 urn finials. Bandcourse
immediately below wallhead; pair piended dormers.
Simple Venetian window in each front gable of flanking
wings, with blind side lights right; pair later piended
smallhead dormers in SW return elevation. 2- and 4-pane
glazing; end stacks to centre block, ridge stacks to wings;
slate roofs.
Projecting bowed centre stairwell to rear with truncated
roof.
Interior; Pair reeded pilasters in hall (capitals missing);
stairwell with turned wooden balusters. Decorative plaster
friezes in hall, 1st floor bedroom and ground floor
drawing, where further pair reeded pilasters with Corinthian
capitals flanked alcove. Carved chimneypieces in both
drawing room and bedroom; beaded panelled window shutters
and doors.
Meat larder; sited on knoll to W of house, square rubble
meat larder over small cellar. Centre door in N elevation
(some blocked); pyramidal slate roof.
Interior; plain interior in poor condition; centre beam
studded with large iron meat hooks.
Meat larder sited on knoll to catch cooling winds. Unusual
survival.
Small privy and rubble walled garden stand at E of house;
icehouse (now blocked) built into slope at W.
