Dated 1732. 2-storey, 6-bay house with later 2-storey,
2-bay addition in similar style at east gable; 19th
century single storey wing to rear. 6 regular south
facing bays with tall narrow windows with chamfered
margins and off-centre entrance with later corniced and
pilastered door-piece. Additional slightly later 2 wider
bays with similar fenestration continuous at east gable.
Diminutive gable attic windows; crowsteps; cavetto
skewputts; ridge and end corniced stacks; slate roof.
Single storey, 3-bay freestanding building at right
angles to main house and linked to it at SW by garden
wall, forming U-plan court. (Some evidence remains of
former matching building ar SE).
Interior; little remains of interest though outside east
gable wall clearly identifiable in attic, with
diminutive attic gable end window; pegged and numbered
collars and rafters.
Garden walls, house and gate piers; harl pointed garden
walls enclose square front garden; pair corniced rubble
gate piers in centre of east wall, with ogee caps and
finials. (similar entrance opposite in west side of
garden, now without gate piers).
Small low gabled rubble garden house incorporated in SW
angle of garden wall.
Alexander Brodie of Lethen gave up Lethen to his eldest
son (also Alexander) in 1732 and built himself a house at
Brightmony. He had a numerous family, which might have caused
the building of the additional 2 bays at the east gable of
the house.
