Despite fenestration changes (from single to bipartite windows) which have affected the overall character of the building, Brewstead remains an important building in Limekilns and is situated in a prominent position at the beginning of Main Street. The name of the building and the proximity of the later Bruce Arms suggest a connection for this part of Limekilns with brewing.
