Circa 1900. Single-storey, 3-bay, square-plan, symmetrical former Butler's Cottage with advanced gabled bays flanking central porch recess with moulded timber bargeboarding at eaves level. Squared and snecked whinstone rubble with pale sandstone ashlar dressings. Mullioned bipartite windows with raised cills.
Plate-glass to timber sash and case windows. Grey slate. Stepped skews and roll-moulded skewputts. Coped end stacks. Clay cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
B-Group with Carmichael House, HBNUM 44568 and Laundry Cottage, HBNUM 718 (see separate listings).
Good symmetrical cottage, built for the butler at Carmichael House at the end of the 19th century, of interest as an important ancillary component of the Carmichael estate.
