Description

Mid 19th century, 2-storey and attic, symmetrical 3-bay
former school, now dwelling. Harl pointed rubble, tooled
dressings. Centre door in south front; single ground floor
windows in east and west gables, 1st floor window in east
gable; 16-pane glazing; 2 wide barge-boarded gabled dormers
with multi-pane casements; coped end stacks; slate roof.
Roughly coped rubble garden wall.

Statement of Interest

Appears as "Femal School" on 1st edition OS, 1872.

"Female school endowed in Brora the Duke of Sutherland

where girls are taught to sew, to make their own dresses

and other needlework". (1840).
