Description

Circa 1800, 2-storey and attic, 3-bay E facing house (with
2-storey rear wing) flanked by pair single storey , 3-bay
cottages forming U-plan E facing court. Cottage to S linked
to main house by single storey quadrant incorporating
bathroom extension; cottage to N detached. Pinned granite
frontage to main house, squared granite to gables and rear,
harled cottages, tooled granite dressings.
Centre entrance masked by canted glazed porch; rectangular
fanlight with geometric glazing; 3 later flat roofed
dormers with multi-pane casements; 12- and 4- pane sashes
elsewhere.
End stacks; mainly local slate roofs. Interior; slender
turned pine balusters to centre stairwell; pine panelled
dados, doors and window shutters to ground floor drawing
and dining rooms; moulded pine doorpieces. Decorative
plaster cornice and ceiling in drawing room with stylised
corn, feather and swag motifs.

Statement of Interest

Re-used mid-18th century fielded panelled door in N cottage,

said to have been former dairy.

Similar good quality house carpentry and plaster work at

Dell Lodge, also Nethy Bridge.
