1785-6, front addition 1865 and various other later
extensions. Originally 2-storey, south facing 3-bay house,
with later additions to front and rear now forming roughly
cruciform plan. All harled with dressed granite margins.
Original centre entrance masked by dated 1865 2-storey,
2-bay drawing and dining room wing with bipartite in centre
ground floor of south gable and single window above; single
gabletted dormers east and west. Lean-to porch in re-entrant.
Further 2-storey and attic, 2-bay wing to rear and single
storey service extension. 12-pane glazing; small mural
sundial at SW angle of original house; coped end, ridge
and wallhead stacks; slate roofs.
Interior; re-used bolection moulded doorpiece, dated 1727,
to original centre entrance, now opening off hall; coved
ceiling to 1st floor 1865 drawing room.
Walled garden; coped rubble walled garden.
Former Durness Church of Scotland Parish Manse. Doorpiece
dated 1727 and initialled MMD for Murdo MacDonald with
inscription "God
sees you".
