Earlier 19th century, 2-storey, 11-bay, part double pile,
fishing station. Coursed rubble, tooled rubble dressings.
Near symmetrical north facing window-door-window facade with
extra window at west; divided internally into fishing stores and dwellings, the later at east served by ridge and end stacks;
4-pane glazing; slate roofs.
Rubble retaining wall. Curved rubble jetty.
Vaulted ice house.
"a large establishment for the preserving of the salmon caught
all along the coast." (Imperial Gazetteer.)
Probably that station referred to in NEW STATISTICAL ACCOUNT
(1840). Appears on 1st ed. OS (1875) In 1870 managed
directly (rather than let) by Sutherland Estates, when
"an experience salmon fisherman from Morayshire engaged
as manager.
