Church; probably late medieval. Simple rectangular church
orientated east/west with small burial enclosure at west
gable. All rubble; entrance in SW and in SE (former priest's
entrance); also very low doorway to west burial enclosure of
the Macdonalds of Morar. Roofless; some damage to east gable
wall. Small roofless burial enclosure continuous with church
with semi-circular chamfered mural recess in north wall with
carved, crested stone dated 1641 and initialled MRGM.
Mural memorial tablet above dated 1843.
Burial ground; church stands in simple drystone walled
burial ground. At least 3 medieval or late medieval tomb
stones; also 18th, 19th and 20th century head stones.
RC Chapel superceded by 1849 church close by. Appears on 1st
OS, 1873, as dedicated to St. Mary of Iona. 1843 mural
memorial to Amelia McDonald of Morar and her 3 daughters.
Simple bronze plaque to Alexander McDonald, Clanranald
bard 1704-80, buried somewhere in burial ground. Burial
enclosure possibly chancel of even earlier church, wall tomb
in traditional site in north wall of chancel. Burial ground
abuts RC church.
