Description

1750-60, 2-storey and attic, symmetrical 3-bay E facing
house; later additions and alterations. Squared light
grey granite with contrasting darker pinnings; harled
flanks and rear; ashlar granite dressings and margins.
Advanced centre bay with pulivated corniced doorpiece with
moulded lugged surrounds now masked by glazed wooden porch
with angle pilasters. Small square attic window, shaped
gablet with scroll skewputts and coped apex stack; moulded
eaves cornice returns short length across gablet and end
gables; scroll skewputts.
Later rectangular bay windows in ground floor 2 ground and
2 1st floor windows in N return gable; single 1st floor
window in S gable, that at ground floor now as door leading
to modern lean-to sun-parlour. 2 later 19th century canted
bay windows in outer bays at rear; single-storey and attic,
2-bay rear wing; 2- and 4-pane glazing. Coped end granite
stacks; local slate roofs.

Local slate roof with skilfully lapped joints in valleys.

Slates probably from Cnoc Fergan quarries, Tomintoul.
