Dated 1697 and 1703. Original house square plan 2-storey
and attic harled with margins U-plan valley roof, crow-
stepped gables; 5-window double gable front with centre
wallhead balustrade, central R-doric column segmentally
arched tripartite doorpiece, probably of 1818, swept
dormer heads 2nd floor on W. front, 2-storey N.E. wing
probably mid 18th century, extensive rubble-built
offices. Back (N.W.) wing 1818 as ballroom for the
hotel.
Resemblance to Methven Castle should be noted; one
storey lower and without angle towers but otherwise
closely similar in outline.
