First World War memorial, 1920.
The memorial stands on the east edge of the path leading from the lychgate (Grade II) to the tower of the church of St Paul (Grade II), Chacewater. Made of rough-hewn granite, it comprises a plain wheel-head cross on a tapering shaft. That stands on a rectangular plinth, raised on one shallow step. The memorial is enclosed by a square granite kerb that features four low corner pylons, connected by metal rails.
The main inscription is carved on the foot of the shaft, on the front face: IN/ HONOURED MEMORY/ OF THOSE/ WHO MADE THE/ SUPREME SACRIFICE/ IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 1918. The 30 commemorated names are carved into the front face of the plinth, grouped by regiment, corps and ship. Below the names is carved “HE THAT LOSETH HIS LIFE FOR MY SAKE, SHALL FIND IT”. The carved letters are painted with black enamel.

Chacewater War Memorial was unveiled on 13 June 1920. It commemorates the men of Chacewater who fell in the First World War and was paid for by public subscription.
