eruppa Farm

II
DESCRIPTION:
A milestone erected in 1762 by the Creed, Tregony and St Just Turnpike Trust. Granite. It is rectangular in plan with a semi-circular rounded head, and stands 0.74m high by 0.3m wide. Painted white with black lettering, it is inscribed; St MAWeS/7/TRegONy/3.

HISTORY:
The Creed, Tregony and St Just Turnpike Trust was established by Act of Parliament in 1762. The milestone now stands in a ditch a couple of metres from the present road edge due to the realignment of the A3078 in the late C20. It was re-discovered in 2007 when undergrowth on the verge was cut back.
