II
Detached house. Mid C18, remodelled early C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate roof.
PLAN: L-plan, single depth house, with steep gables to north and west, hipped to return, with small extra bay added to left.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys and lower ground floor, three-window street front, all plain sashes, and central five-panel door, top panel glazed, in broad raised surround, with thin cornice. Ridge stack off centre, left, coped verge, above added bay in rubble with slate hipped roof. Right return has two wide sunk arched bays to central eaves stack, with blank light and two-light casement at first floor, above twelve-pane sashes to ground floor. Outer gable also coped, and rear said to contain blocked chamfered stone mullioned window (former list).
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
HISTORY: The steep roof pitch and plan form suggest an earlier building behind the facade. A building is shown as existing on this site on the Harcourt Masters 1793 plan of Bath.
