Pair of houses in row. c1820 with C20 alterations.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate and double Roman tile roofs.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys, with two lower ground floors generated by drop in site from street front. Each two windows, all sashes. No.22 has twelve-pane above one twelve-pane, five-panel door, and three-pane C19 shopfront with transom lights, fascia and cornice. No.24 has two C20 dormers in pantile mansard roof, above twelve-pane, with off centre six-panel door under thin flat hood on consoles. Each has small plinth, dying to pavement, left, moulded cornice, blocking course and parapet, with deep ashlar stack to right. Rear not accessible.
INTERIORS: Not inspected.
Part of a mixed row from 12-34 (qqv), but similar to the adjacent Nos.16-20, except for parapet fronts. The Road to Wells and Exeter was described as 'The New Road' on Chantry's 1793 plan of Bath.
