House, now flats. Late C18 with C19 alterations.
MATERIALS: limestone ashlar to front, coursed squared limestone rubble to right side and rear; double pile parapeted mansard roof, Welsh Slate to front and lower slope to rear, concrete tile to upper slope with coped party wall to left and coped gable wall to right with two ashlar stacks.
PLAN: Burlington Place (including No.2 Gloucester Street) forms a quasi-symmetrical composition with terminating three bay pavilions breaking forward from two recessed bays to centre with horizontal elements of design continuous throughout (cf. Brunswick Place qv). No.3 is two bays to right of pavilion to right, staircase to front.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, two window front. First floor has two plate glass sashes, to left with horns, in plain reveals with splayed jambs with lowered stone sills. Ground floor has to right plate glass sash in plain reveal with splayed jambs with stone sill, to left C19 six panel door with centre top panel glazed with Pennant step in pedimented Doric doorcase. Basement has two openings in plinth with two probable six/six sashes and openings in pavement. Double dormer with plate glass horned sashes. Plinth, band course over ground floor, bracketed eaves cornice and coped parapet. Plate glass and two/two sashes to right side to second floor and attic; rear elevation has three grouped sashes to each floor, now two/two and plate glass, blind to second floor left and right and blocked to ground floor right. Small ashlar extension to ground floor.
