Gothick house to north of Bloomfield Crescent. C.1800.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, double Roman tile.
PLAN: T-plan house with wider front to road, projecting central bay to north-west facing slope.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys at front. Three storey plus lower ground floor at rear, facing west. Road front has two windows, twelve pane sashes, but with blind lights painted in left at second and ground floor, broad six pane sash to lower right. Centred C20 door under slab hood and cheeks with reeded edges. Two platbands, thin cornice, crenellated parapet stepped up to right, and coped gables with ashlar stacks, to hipped roofs. Right return has a narrow gable end with platbands, then steps back to wing containing paired nine pane sashes under ogee lintel and pair of painted blind lights. Splayed back to rear range with terrace at mid-height.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: To right boundary wall in coursed work with plain coping, ramped down, and rising from approx 3 to 4 metres in height.
HISTORY: This picturesque house is designed to derive maximum benefit from its commanding hillside setting. Masters, architect of Bloomfield Crescent, may have had a hand in its design: he is known to have designed Gothick houses elsewhere.
