K6 Telephone kiosk designed in 1935 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. Cast iron, painted white, and of square plan.
EXTERIOR: Domed roof. Unperforated crown to the top panel above an opaque glazed rectangular panel marked 'TELEPHONE.' Margin glazing to windows and door.
INTERIOR: White paint continues to the inside. Modern telephone apparatus.
HISTORY: This telephone kiosk, of a type dating to 1935, was painted white in the 1940's at the behest of Sir Thomas Dundas who lived at The Old Rectory within sight of the kiosk.
SUMMARY OF IMPORTANCE: This white telephone kiosk, located in a prominent position of the village of Slaugham, is an important feature in the Slaugham Conservation Area. It has good group value with a number of nearby listed buildings.
